About Us

Our family’s story began in 2005 when we’re lucky to receive green cards through the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program (aka the Green Card Lottery). Understanding quickly that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity, we decided to leave our home in Bosnia and Herzegovina with two small children and move to the United States. We settled in Chicago’s north side and have been here ever since. Beginning a new life was no easy task but with a lot of hard work and perseverance we have managed to build a beautiful life for our family here. In 2012, we opened a trucking company, a small family business that would provide us with stability and comfort. Opening NAMI Transportation Inc taught us a lot. In order to be successful a number of skills had to be developed. Organization, communication, compliance, logistics, and more. Transporting freight across the continental U.S. takes a lot of work!

In the years we have spent in the United States, we have seen south-eastern European countries slowly become popular travel destinations. Croatia and Slovenia especially have caught the world’s attention, and with good reason. However, a couple of places have managed to stay undiscovered, untouched gems. One of them is Bosnia and Herzegovina.  A family-oriented, safe, nature rich country full of stunning waterfalls, vineyards, and historical sights waiting to be explored. Our family has the privilege of calling that amazing place home! Specifically, a small border town in southern Herzegovina. We have seen all of these beautiful sights, and we believe others deserve the pleasure as well. This is how we got the idea for NAMI Travel!

Our mission is to create an experience that will introduce people to Croatian and Herzegovinian wonders. A true best of both worlds adventure. One that will hopefully bring attention to this often-forgotten corner of the world.
